In the annals of United States Military History, no branch of any armed service has had the devastating impact as has the Navy's submarine service, whose men comprised less than 2% of the entire U.S. Navy, while destroying more enemy vessels than all other service arms combined, during World War II.

This is dedicated to the officers and crewmen who served aboard USS TRITON, SS-201, and to all of the courageous men of the Navy's "Silent Service" who went on war patrols to hold the line and to seek out and destroy the enemy wherever he tried to hide - hastening the end of World War II.
As a military arm, the mostly volunteer Silent Service suffered the highest casualty rate, on a percentage basis, of any branch of the U.S. Military Services in that great war.

They fought and died for our freedoms with relentless tenacity, enduring
indescribable hardship and sacrifice to defeat the enemies of free nations everywhere.
