"Lloyd McKenzie was the Front Loader on the Deck Gun Crew which sank the first enemy ship, by gunfire from a U.S. Submarine, in World War II.  I was very proud of that Gun Crew ."

CAPT. George  H. Whiting, USN (Ret.), would become Executive Officer on USS GRENADIER, SS-210, and a Japanese POW after GRENADIER's loss to enemy aerial bombs in the Straits of Molocca, Malaya on April 22, 1943.
